The Invite
The Invite is a comedy-drama with a romantic streak, set over one dinner party. Joe and Angela's marriage is on thin ice, and inviting their enigmatic upstairs neighbors over for the evening seems like a harmless idea. The night spirals into unexpected places, and the question the film keeps asking is whether the couple have reignited their spark or lit the match that burns everything down. The tagline, "It'll be fun," is best read with an eyebrow raised.
Amy Adams, Paul Rudd, Olivia Wilde and Seth Rogen head the cast; the listing credits the couple's roles to more than one actor, so those pairings are left unstated here. Tessa Thompson plays Kayla, Penélope Cruz is Pina and Edward Norton plays Hawk. Olivia Wilde also directs, after Booksmart and Don't Worry Darling. The film runs 1h 47m and is rated R.
IMDb users have rated it 7.9 from 6422 votes; no Kinopoisk score is listed.
