The Rays and Shadows

Jean, a French newspaperman, and Otto, a young German Francophile, are working together for peace in Europe. Jean's daughter Corinne is just starting a bright acting career in the film world. Then war breaks out and France is occupied, and both friends find themselves with major roles in the new order: Jean becomes a powerful press baron and an ardent advocate of collaboration with the occupying forces, while Otto is made the Reich's ambassador in Paris. Corinne, meanwhile, is thrown into the lion's pit.

Xavier Giannoli directs; his earlier films include Lost Illusions and The Singer. The historical drama runs 3h 19m, and no age rating is listed.
