By Any Means
In 1960s Mississippi, a wave of brutal killings is targeting civil rights leaders, and young Black FBI agent Wayne Strider is sent to investigate. He is forced to work alongside notorious mafia hitman Greg Scarpa, and the hunt that follows drags him to a place where the lines of justice and vengeance begin to blur. The tagline puts the premise bluntly: the FBI couldn't crack it, so they called in the mob.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II plays Wayne Strider opposite Mark Wahlberg as Gregory Scarpa, with Josh Lucas as Special Agent Everett Rhodes, David Strathairn as Special Agent Roy K. Moore and Giancarlo Esposito as Vernon Dahmer; LaChanze appears as Hattie Dahmer. Elegance Bratton directs, following The Inspection. This history-crime thriller runs 1h 47m and is rated R.
