Bride of the Year
Lienkie wanted a family of her own, and that dream has just come crashing down. Instead of grieving quietly she hatches a devious plan: enter and win Bride of the Year, and use the crown to get back at her ex. The film plays the scheme as romantic comedy with a family-friendly streak, so the revenge is more about pride and public embarrassment than anything cruel.
Carine Rous plays Lienkie, with Bouwer Bosch as Frank, Armand Aucamp as Zander, Laura-lee Mostert as Estelle and Lisa Tredoux as Johannika. Hanli Rolfes, Terence Bridgett and Tobie Cronje appear as Norma, Martin and Albie. Joshua Rous, who previously made Semi-Soeter, directs. It runs 1h 38m; no age rating is listed, though the family and romance labels suggest a light touch.
