Bait
Shah Latif is a struggling actor on the cusp of landing the role of a lifetime. Instead of a clean break, he is thrown into a full-blown existential crisis and a trippy conspiracy thriller at the same time, and the series runs both problems side by side. The mix of science fiction, drama and comedy means the tone shifts from scene to scene rather than settling into one register.
Riz Ahmed plays Shah Latif, with Guz Khan as Zulfi, Miranda Hennessy as Alison Moore, Ben Ashenden as Garreth and Darragh O'Toole as Johnny. No director is named in the credits. Because the conspiracy builds on itself, this is a series to start from the first episode; the TV-MA rating marks it for mature audiences.
Audience reaction so far is middling: Kinopoisk users rate it 6.1, and the title has gathered 4249 votes on IMDb.
