Forsaken

Samuel Paty, a professor of History-Geography, was murdered on October 16, 2020, at the end of his college. His name is widely known; his story, the film argues, is not. Drawing on the investigations and trials that followed, it looks back at his last eleven days and at the gear that turned, step by step, towards his death. It is a drama rather than a documentary, but one that keeps close to the record.

Antoine Reinartz plays Samuel Paty. Emmanuelle Bercot appears as Audrey Fouillard, Nedjim Bouizzoul as Kader Saïdi, Emma Boumali as Bachira Saïdi and Azize Kabouche as Tahar Amara, with Marie-Sohna Condé as Firmine, Jean-Michel Lahmi as Guislain and Nhoa François as Madou. Vincent Garenq, whose earlier films include In Her Name and French Roulette, directs. No runtime or age rating is listed, though the subject matter is heavy by any measure.
