"Wuthering Heights"
Wuthering Heights returns to the moors of 18th-century England, where Heathcliff falls in love with Catherine Earnshaw, a woman from a wealthy family. Tragedy follows, as the tagline promises: come undone. This is a romance built on class, obsession and the damage two people can do to each other and everyone around them.
Margot Robbie plays Cathy and Jacob Elordi is Heathcliff. Shazad Latif appears as Edgar Linton, Hong Chau as the housekeeper Nelly Dean, and Alison Oliver as Isabella. Emerald Fennell writes and directs, after Promising Young Woman and Saltburn, and her taste for lush, uncomfortable period settings carries over here. The film runs 2h 17m and is rated R, so expect an adult treatment of the material rather than a polite costume drama.
Audience response has been mixed: the film sits at 6.1 on IMDb from 58951 votes, and no Kinopoisk rating is recorded.
