The Third Degree
The Third Degree is a mystery thriller set inside a rehearsal room in London. Four young actors are preparing an upcoming West End play when the affairs they have been quietly conducting with one another come out into the open. What begins as embarrassment quickly becomes a contest: each of them tries to get the upper hand over the others, twist follows twist, and the manoeuvring spirals towards murder. The film keeps its focus tight on the four of them and the play they are supposedly rehearsing.
James Barrington and Eric Geynes head the cast; the listing does not attach character names to either. No director is credited and no age rating is given. The film runs 1h 29m, a length that suits its single-setting, small-ensemble design and keeps the reversals coming at a steady pace.
