The Calling Witch
The Calling Witch is a horror thriller with a literary twist. A brother and sister find themselves terrorized by something that looks very much like the most sinister figure their late mother, an author, ever put on paper: the Calling Witch of the title. Whether the thing in the trees is a copycat, a delusion or exactly what it appears to be is the question the film keeps alive, and the tagline gives the only practical advice on offer: stay out of the woods.
Danika Golombek and Grayson Eddey play the siblings, Virginia and Edward. Nathalie Söderqvist appears as Alison, Marcus DeAnda as Warren, Zachary Cowan as Greg and Greg Lutz as the local law, Sheriff Dupray, with Hilary Barraford as Meredith. Mark Wilson, previously the director of Wade in the Water, directs; the film runs 1h 38m. No age rating has been assigned.
Early IMDb reaction is modest: 4.8 from 119 votes, a small enough count that the number could still move considerably.
