The Bride!
A lonely Frankenstein travels to 1930s Chicago to find Dr. Euphronious, a groundbreaking scientist, and ask for a companion. Together they revive a murdered young woman, and The Bride is born. What follows is beyond anything either of them imagined. The film sits between horror, science fiction and fantasy, and the tagline signals that it does not intend to be polite about it.
Jessie Buckley plays Ida, who becomes The Bride and is also credited as Mary Shelley. Christian Bale is Frank, the Frankenstein's Monster of the title, and Annette Bening plays Dr. Euphronious. Jake Gyllenhaal appears as Ronnie Reed, Peter Sarsgaard as Jake Wiles and Penélope Cruz as Myrna Malloy. Maggie Gyllenhaal directs, following The Lost Daughter. Rated R, running 2h 7m.
IMDb voters have landed on 5.7 from about 21 thousand votes. No Kinopoisk score is listed.
