State of Fear
Trailer unavailableState of Fear opens as São Paulo erupts in an unprecedented wave of violence. Caught in the middle is a lawyer with underworld ties whose niece has been kidnapped, and the only way to get the girl back is to strike a deal with the police, the very people her clients have spent years fighting. The film works as a crime thriller with a family drama underneath it.
Naruna Costa plays the lawyer, Cristina. Seu Jorge appears as Edson, David Santos as Borges, Camilla Damião as Elisa and Hermila Guedes as Darlene. Pedro Morelli directs; his earlier credits include Brotherhood, which shares this film's interest in organised crime and the state's response to it, as well as Zoom and City of Men. The film runs 1h 43m and is rated R for its violence.
Audience reception has been cool: 4.8 on IMDb from 675 votes, with no Kinopoisk rating listed.
