Queen of Chess
A Hungarian girl decides she is going to win in international men's chess, not women's. The documentary follows Judit Polgár through a 15-year fight on two fronts, against world champion Garry Kasparov across the board and against a domineering father at home, and shows how she took apart the patriarchal culture of the game on her way to being counted among the greatest prodigies chess has produced and the greatest woman ever to play it.
Judit Polgar and Garry Kasparov both appear as themselves. Rory Kennedy directs; her previous documentaries include Downfall: The Case Against Boeing and The Volcano: Rescue from Whakaari. Released in 2026, the film runs 1h 33m and carries no age rating in the listing.
IMDb viewers rate it 7.7 from 1271 votes; no Kinopoisk score has been recorded.
