The Lady Painter

The Lady Painter opens with a double murder: Su Luoyao's father and brother are killed, and she decides to get answers from the inside. Using her intelligence and an extraordinary gift for painting, she infiltrates the mysterious Baizhen Bureau. There she crosses paths with Xie Lingfeng, a young general, and the two join forces to expose hidden corruption and trace the conspiracy back to its source.

This is a period drama series, so plan to watch it from the first episode; the investigation builds on itself. Luo Yutong plays Su Luoyao, who also operates under the name An Rao, and Wang Jiaxuan is Xie Lingfeng. Around them are Liu Yihe as Mu Qing, Li Yimu as Shen Yan, Wei Zhun as Cheng Duan and Wang Luyun as the Empress Dowager. No director is credited in the listing, and neither episode runtime nor age rating is given. There are no Kinopoisk or IMDb scores yet, so the draw here is the premise: a heroine whose weapon is a paintbrush, set against palace politics and a general with his own reasons to dig.
