Moana
Moana follows a teenager who hears the Ocean's call and, for the first time in her life, sails beyond the reef that protects her island of Motunui. Her companion is Maui, an infamous demigod, and the purpose of the voyage is to restore prosperity to her people. The tagline says the ocean chose her for a reason, and the film is about discovering what that reason is. It is a family adventure with fantasy and comedy woven through it.
Catherine Lagaʻaia plays Moana, with Dwayne Johnson as Maui. Rena Owen appears as Gramma Tala, Frankie Adams as Sina and John Tui as Chief Tui. Thomas Kail directs, having previously made Grease Live. The film runs 1h 55m and is rated PG.
Audience scores are middling so far: 6.2 on Kinopoisk and 5.7 on IMDb, the latter from 9015 votes.
