The Next Karate Kid
Trailer unavailableTwelve-year-old Sasha has to leave Moscow for Pyatigorsk and move in with his aunt while his parents, both doctors, are on assignment in Africa. The local kids are not welcoming, school bullying follows, and a running conflict with the ringleader, Marat, becomes part of daily life. When his parents disappear during a flood, the boy is left in despair. Looking for something to hold on to, he finds karate, and a strict sensei, Dmitriy, and his daughter, Masha, help him face his fears and build the character he needs.
This family action drama from Alexey Alferov, who earlier directed Thief, features Roman Kurtsyn, Miron Provorov, Alina Sokolova, Magomed Ismailov and Kirill Pletnyov; the listing does not attach characters to the actors. No runtime or age rating is given, though the story is clearly aimed at families with children around Sasha's age.
Audience scores diverge sharply: Kinopoisk users give it 6.6, while on IMDb it sits at 2.8 from a small pool of 18 votes.
